Shri Prasenjit Singh, Member (Legislation), CBDT, led the Indian delegation to the 60th CIAT General Assembly, held in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, from May 11 to 15, 2026, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII) of the Dominican Republic. The was “Digital transformation of tax administrations”. During the Assembly, the Member (Legislation), CBDT, participated in a panel discussion on the theme, “Use of Digital Platforms and Artificial Intelligence to Assist Taxpayers”. He highlighted India’s significant strides in the field of digital transformation. The discussion also underscored key developments, including India’s new Income Tax Act, as well as ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing tax awareness and strengthening capacity building. During the event compendium titled “Technology and Tax Administration: The Indian Experience” and “SAKSHAM NUDGE: An Innovative Approach to E-Governance” were presented to the forum. The Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT) @CIATorg, established in 1967, is a non-profit international organization that provides specialized technical assistance to support the modernization and strengthening of tax administrations worldwide. Currently, CIAT is composed of tax administrations from 42 member and associate member country, wherein India is an associate member country.
